A – Any identification that proves the player’s current high school enrollment and/or age. This can include a valid state driver’s license, high school ID card, or recreation/select/classic soccer player card from a recognized soccer organization.
A – Yes, a manager can enter as many teams as they wish that fits within the bracketing restraints. For example, if only one spot is available in a bracket, only one team may be allowed unless enough teams sign up to create another bracket.
A – Playing on more than one team is allowable ONLY if the teams are not in the same division (Men’s and women’s open, High school men’s and women’s, co-ed O-30). For example, a player cannot play on two high school teams, but can play on one high school team and one men’s or women’s team.
A – Anyone that is at least 18 years of age with a valid ID. The team manager does not have to be a coach, parent, or player.
A – Download the team registration form at www.hvsoccer.org/stateofjeff. Payment and mailing instructions are listed on the form. The form can be scanned and emailed, however, registration is not complete until the team fees are received.

Q – I have a player that just graduated – is he/she eligible to play on my high school team?
A – No, players must be entering or currently enrolled in high school division. Therefore, players that graduated in the spring are not eligible to play in the high school division. These players are encouraged to play in the open divisions.
A – We’ve seen two different coaching philosophies in our tournament:
One aspect is to evenly split the strongest players and then fill the remaining team spots with weaker players. This gives both teams equal opportunity gain points and wins, but lessens their chances of winning the tournament.
Second approach is to create varsity and junior varsity, or A, B, and C teams, where varsity or A-team is stacked with the strongest players, and then divide the weaker players to create other teams. This gives the school being represented the best opportunity to win the tournament, and also allows the weaker players to experience the tournament competition.
Both have their pros and cons, however, in both cases players get the tournament experience and valuable pre-season conditioning.
A – In most cases, no. However, if a bracket is not completely filled, the tournament director may allow it.
A – There’s a wide range of team skill levels that enter the tournament. In the high school divisions, some coaches/managers split the teams evenly if they bring multiple teams, while others create “A” and “B” teams. Some schools only bring one strong team. The Men’s and women’s’ open teams may include semi-pro teams scaling down their 11-a-side teams, local city league teams, and alumni teams reforming their former high school teams.
A – Please visit the website at www.hvsoccer.org/stateofjeff. There are several hotels and camping spots listed there.
Q – We will be traveling the morning of the tournament – can I request a later game time for our first game?
A – In most cases yes, but there is no guarantee. We try our best to accommodate traveling teams by having local teams start early games. Please contact the tournament director as soon as possible to make such arrangements.
A – No, roster switching in not allowed in the tournament. A player can only be listed on one roster per division, and cannot be removed. Injured/missing players can be replaced with another player as long as the new player is not on another team within the division.
A – Players can be added only by permission of the tournament director, and as long as the addition does not violate any tournament rules.
